Using special paints, an old woman, wearing a hat, was painted on a piece of COE 90, clear glass. Two layers of amber coloured glass was added. Then they were fired in a killn to 1475 degrees F. for about 18 hours. When cooled the edges were ground, then back in the kiln she went for a 2nd firing to 1400 degrees which took about 16 hours. You will note that the painted area took on a mottled texture during firing. Then Kathy wrapped her in silver wire, putting a wire rose and woven bail at the top. Now it is ready for someone to wear and enjoy.
